In a high-mountain desert, water is a particularly precious commodity, both for refreshment and hydration, and for the fish it provides. Rivers run through the mountains, and the nomadic Qashqai depend on them, which explains why we occasionally encounter fish-motif Gabbehs such as this one. It may not remind you of survival, but it may make you smile!
