Archeo specializes in "village furniture" from the island of Java in Indonesia. Before the advent of factory production, if the villagers needed a table or chair or cabinet, they would use the indigenous wood to create a singular piece, perfectly suited to their need. We sell only pieces created in this manner.....lovingly and by hand. We choose not to sell the Indonesian furniture popularly seen today in magazines in stores because much of it is produced without regard to sustainability or individuality. Pieces in our "village furniture" collection are exclusively teak, a hardy and rich wood. Every piece is unique and bears the marks that illustrate its life.

From time to time Archeo carries furniture of other ethnicities, again with preference for unique older pieces, including cabinets, alter tables, and chairs from India and China. For really rare artifacts, look at our selection of remarkable African beds.
