Depending on your frame of reference, these shapes are evocative of manta rays, bats or farming tools. They were actually an important form of currency, traded in Nigeria and Cameroon. Traditionally used as a bridewealth - given by the groom to a bride's family during the wedding ceremony, there is a mottled patina that shows its age.
